It all began with a dream…the vision of a young entrepreneur working out of his mother’s ice cream business selling fruit ice and ice cream pops from a horse drawn wagon in the bustling streets of the Bronx, New York. His vision? Crafting the finest, most exquisite ice cream.

Reuben Mattus, with his passion for quality and dedication to producing the finest ice cream available, insisted on using only individually selected, pure ingredients. In 1960, supported by his wife Rose, the brand Häagen-Dazs™ was formed, to convey an aura of the old-world traditions and master craftsmanship to which he remained faithful.

Häagen-Dazs™ started out with the three flavors, the most popular to this day: Vanilla, Chocolate and Coffee. But Mr. Mattus’ passion for quality soon took him to the four corners of the globe toying with unique ice cream recipes which included dark chocolate from Belgium and hand-picked vanilla beans from Madagascar, creating distinctive and indulgent taste experiences.

The Häagen-Dazs™ brand quickly developed a loyal following. At first, it was only available at gourmet shops in New York City, but soon distributed throughout the U.S by 1973. Then in 1976, Mr. Mattus’ daughter Doris opened the first Häagen-Dazs™ shop.

In 1983 Mr. Mattus agreed to sell Häagen-Dazs™ to The Pillsbury Company, which remained committed to the tradition of superior quality and innovation on which Häagen-Dazs® was founded. Since then, it has become a global phenomenon, available in over 50 countries.

Beginning in the early 2000s, Häagen-Dazs™ came to T&T’s shores and has since then become the most sought after foreign ice cream brand! Available almost everywhere frozen foods/desserts are sold, our many indulgent flavours and convenient offerings never leave our fans wanting.
